- Have this ready Your address and how long you've lived there, your employer and yearly income, and your monthly rent or mortgage. Your SIN is optional for a credit card; you can leave it blank.
- Expect a credit check Applying adds a hard inquiry to your credit report, which lowers your score a little for a few months. Space applications about 90 days apart.

How to use it
- Welcome offer: spend $6,000 in the first 90 days. The Avios post about 15 weeks later
- Dining and food delivery: 2 Avios per $1
- British Airways: book direct with BA for 3 Avios per $1, and use ba.com/RBC10 for 10% off round trips from Canada (book by December 31, 2026)
- Everything else: 1 Avios per $1
- Redeeming: short-haul and partner economy flights give the best value; BA flights from Canada carry high cash surcharges
- Example: $800/month groceries + $250 gas + $250 dining + $300 bills = 22,200 Avios a year, worth $222–$444 if an Avios is worth 1–2¢ (our assumption), $57–$279 after the $165 fee
